WORKING LOCALLY FOR A STATE OF CHANGE
Much has changed since Dire States launched in the fall of 2013. A long-term highway bill is law (but not sustainably funded). Significant water infrastructure legislation has been enacted. And many states have passed their own bills to boost infrastructure investment.
We’re not there yet, however.
American infrastructure – specifically when viewed at the local level – still has a long way to go.
Dire States is a champion for local infrastructure. We’ve evolved from awareness to advocacy and now to action. By showcasing the positive effects of infrastructure development (jobs, economic and workforce development, public safety and many more), we’re laying the groundwork for all states, counties and communities to take control of their own infrastructure fate. And now we’re providing some of those communities with the tools to make it happen – check out the new Dire States Grant.
